Adams said: "First half we played very well, got an early lead and looked like we were going to go on and win comfortably.
"We had a chance just before they scored which was a turning point and to come in at 1-1 at half-time was a real kick in the teeth.
"They were resolute and the longer the game went on, I've got to be honest I thought Cheltenham should have won it.
"I can't keep denying we're in the play-off race but we've got to keep performing better than we did. The second half was a lethargic display."
