Vale suffered injuries to four first teamers during the Carling Cup defeat at Rotherham on Tuesday night leaving the amanger with just 14 players to choose from for Saturdays fixture at Vale Park.

"Mickey Bell came off at the interval - his knee flared up a little bit and he's going to be sore for a few days," he told the club's official website.

"George Abbey pulled his hamstring a little bit - he felt it tighten and came off as a precaution.

"Then Hector broke his leg, which is a massive disappointment to himself and to me, and then Sam Collins pinched his Achilles right at the end.

"Now I've got to try and get players in before Saturday, that's the hardest thing. At the moment we've got 14 players and Lee Matthews isn't match fit.

"Because of our financial position, we're going to struggle to bring someone in on a permanent basis, so we're going to have to see if we can bring someone in on loan."
