Port Vale V Brentford at Vale Park - Match Preview

Two miss out for Vale

Port Vale's pre-season injury problems appear to have eased with manager Micky Adams reporting just two absentees ahead of the opening game of the season against Brentford.

Captain Doug Loft (Achilles), Richard Duffy (knee), Adam Yates (knee), Joe Davis (knee), Rob Taylor and Daniel Jones (thigh) have all been nursing problems over the summer but it looks like just two from that list will miss out on Saturday.

"Other than Rob Taylor and Joe Davis, we have got a full complement of players, so that is pleasing," Adams told the club's official website. "Daniel Jones is telling us he is 100% fit, but I wouldn't expect him to say any different."

Summer signings Kaid Mohamed, Gavin Tomlin, Chris Robertson, Anthony Griffith and Carl Dickinson will all be hoping to make their debuts.

Brentford could kick-off their season with as many as eight new faces on the pitch.

Manager Uwe Rosler has been busy shaping his squad with the likes of Will Grigg and Alan McCormack arriving at Griffin Park along with Spaniard Javi Venta.

Having narrowly missed out on promotion last season, the Bees boss will be looking to hit the ground running and has no serious injury concerns ahead of the opener.

The German will be hopeful of a repeat of last season's result when Brentford ran out comfortable 3-0 winners.
