Lines out for Vale

Port Vale are likely to be without Chris Lines when they host Plymouth in the FA Cup.

Lines missed the league loss to Preston on New Year's Day with a cracked rib and the 28-year-old is not expected to come into manager Micky Adams' thinking for Sunday's third round tie.

However, fellow midfielder Anthony Griffith is available again after serving a one-game suspension at Deepdale and he is likely to return to the starting line-up.

Meanwhile, veteran striker Lee Hughes left Vale on Friday to join Skrill Premier club Forest Green on an 18-month deal. The 37-year-old former and West Brom player scored 14 goals in 34 matches after joining in last January's transfer window from Notts County.

Plymouth will be without in-form striker Caolan Lavery.

The Sheffield Wednesday loanee scored his third goal in four starts as Argyle beat Torquay in the Devon derby on Wednesday but the terms of his extended loan spell from Sheffield Wednesday mean he is not allowed to play at Vale Park.

But manager John Sheridan is hopeful he can arrange a deal to keep on-loan Bury attacker Tope Obadeyi at the club for the clash. Obadeyi's loan expires on Saturday but the Shakers are already out of the competition.

Argyle are unbeaten in four games ahead of the trip to face the League One side.
