Port Vale V Salisbury at Vale Park - Match Preview

Vale to stick with Johnson

Sam Johnson will remain in goal for Port Vale when the League One side host Salisbury in the FA Cup.

Johnson kept a clean sheet on his league debut for the club against Walsall last Saturday as he replaced the injured Chris Neal. First-choice goalkeeper Neal suffered a wrist injury in training the day before the game at the Banks's Stadium and could be out for around a month.

Liam Chilvers, Chris Suker and Jordan Hugill kept themselves ticking over with a run out in the development squad this week and along with Louis Dodds, Rob Taylor, Ben Williamson and Lee Hughes are options for manager Micky Adams should he wish to make any changes to his starting line up against the Conference club.

Left-back Dan Jones has resumed training after a foot injury and could come back into the reckoning for the second round tie on Friday night but captain Doug Loft (calf) will definitely remain on the sidelines.

Salisbury will be without on-loan Plymouth striker Tyler Harvey.

The teenager made his Whites debut as a substitute in the FA Trophy first round last weekend but will have to wait for his first start as his parent club do not want him cup-tied.

Luke Ruddick is touch and go with a hamstring problem that has kept him out of action since the end of September.

Manager Mikey Harris will look to former Northern Ireland forward Warren Feeney for inspiration as he aims for a repeat of Salisbury's second-round victory over Grimsby two seasons ago.
