Goalkeeper Chris Martin was given a full debut to remember for all the wrong reasons as Port Vale were on the end of an absolute thrashing.
Youth team goalkeeper Martin was given no protection as a rampant Swindon side ran absolute riot.
The Robins took the lead in the 16th minute after Miguel Comminges lofted over a long cross. Left-back Adam Eckersley lost Lee Peacock and the Swindon striker ran clear to rifle the ball home from 15 yards.
Swindon almost added a second goal barely a minute later when Michael Timlin crossed from the right but Craig Easton put his header just wide of the left-hand post.
The miss didn't matter though as Swindon took a deserved two-goal lead in the 21st minute when Anthony McNamee crossed for Easton to smash home his sixth goal of the season.
Swindon added a third goal through Jack Smith in the 33rd minute. Timlin linked up with Smith in a free-flowing move before the right-back smashed home his first goal of the campaign.
Things went from bad to worse for sorry Port Vale in first-half stoppage time as they conceded two more goals within a minute.
First, McNamee took on right-back Dave Mulligan before rifling the ball home from 12 yards. Then, Timlin was set up by striker Simon Cox, before he brought the ball down and finished crisply with a right-footed shot into the bottom right-hand corner.
Swindon took their foot off the gas in the second half as Vale tried to rally themselves. Midfielder Joe Cardle went close with two long-range shots but it was too little too late for the visitors.
Swindon added a deserved sixth goal in second-half stoppage time. Substitute Ben Joyce ran through a static Vale defence before smashing the ball past the hapless Martin and into the roof of the net.
