But the former Leeds manager is not taking the game as a formality.
He told the club's official website: "It's an ideal draw in that we are at home but I'm sure that Port Vale will come here with aspirations of causing an upset.
"Alright, they did go down, but towards the end of it they were playing their best football of the season and made a bit more of a fight of it.
"It is essential that we be on our toes and, in the build-up, make sure that everything is prepared in the right way or we could end up with egg on our faces."
