The much travelled striker retired from playing in the summer, he spent two years at Blundell Park and now runs his own football academy as well as being on the books as a semi-pro at Lincoln.

Forrester said: "I imagine I'm just behind Hope Powell and Santa Claus in the betting.

"I didn't know I was in the betting and I've not got anywhere near applying for it. It's a tough one because I'm very busy with the stuff I'm doing.

"It's a very competitive arena and when a club like Grimsby are looking for a new manager you get 40 or 50 seasoned managers applying. It's flattering that someone has linked me with that post but it's not something I would actively look to do."
