Valiants boss Martin Foyle turned down two bids from City in recent weeks, but with Brooker’s current contract expiring at the end of the campaign knew he had to take some positive action.
“We offered Steve a two-year deal on Tuesday and the player and his agent have gone away to think it over,” Foyle told the club’s official website.
Brooker has made an impressive start to the current season, netting five times in seven matches.
