Barnet 1 Vale 0 - Match Report

Crewe Alex fans were celebrating their 5-1 win at Bradford all the more as it put them above Port Vale for the first time this season.

Barnet needed to win (& Lincoln to draw or lose) to stay in the league, and wanted that more than Vale wanted bragging rights over Crewe.

Barnet had the best of the first half, but didn't take the lead until Izale McLeod was fouled by Gareth Owen to concede a penalty in the first minute of the second half. McLeod scored from the spot.

Goalkeeper Chris Martin was then immediately rushed to hospital with a dislocated shoulder - Stuart Tomlinson came on as sub.

Vale upp-ed their game, but just like their season, it was a matter of too little too late, despite 6 minutes of injury time.

Vale finish in 11th spot, the lowest they've been all season.

Maybe next season?
