Port Vale's miserable run continued as bottom club Blackpool grabbed their first win of the season with a 3-0 victory at Vale Park.

The visitors took an early lead in the fifth minute when Danny Coid passed inside from the right to Scott Taylor who wasted no time in smashing the ball into Jonathan Brain's top left-hand corner from 12 yards.

Vale made the same mistake on 27 minutes with Leam Richardson this time supplying the cross for on-loan striker Scott Vernon to slot into the net.

Martin Foyle's half-time team talk seemed to do little to inspire his players with the Valiants slipping further behind two minutes after the break.

Brain attempted pass to James O'Connor was intercepted by Vernon and he sliced the ball into an empty net to secure his second of the game.

A change of formation and the addition of Jeff Smith and Dave Hibbert still failed to have any effect with Blackpool running riot.

Vale did pick up the pace late on but the combination of Lee Jones and poor finishing deprived them of any consolation.

Their best chance fell on 84 minutes when Jeff Smith's left sided cross reached Levi Reid at the back post but, despite winning some space, James O'Connor's left-footed shot flew inches over Jones' cross bar.
